P O’Connor & Son appreciates the value of good training and offers trainee contracts to carefully selected candidates. Our trainees receive excellent training and guidance under careful supervision, leaving them equipped to deal with any challenges that they may face in their legal careers.
In 1993, the firm was awarded the Quality Mark for services by the Irish Quality Association. The then president of Ireland, Mary Robinson, presented the Irish Quality Association’s National Award for services to the firm in 1995.

Our History
The firm was founded in December 1900 by Patrick O’Connor (1874-1942). He was a member of a prominent business family in Swinford, County Mayo and president of the Mayo Solicitors’ Bar Association from 1932 to 1942.
The O’Connor family has a long tradition in legal practice in Ireland. Thomas V. O’Connor (1916-1988) was a solicitor, coroner and the President of the Law Society of Ireland in 1972. John W. O’Connor (1918-1978) was a barrister and a Circuit Court Judge. Moya O’Connor (1917-1998) was a solicitor and deputy coroner.
Patrick O’Connor, the current managing partner, is a solicitor, coroner and notary public. In 1998, he was president of the Law Society of Ireland. He has three brothers all of whom are practising lawyers based in Dublin.

Patrick O'Connor
Partner, Solicitor, Coroner, Mediator, Notary Public, Arbitrator
Patrick has over 40 years of legal experience. He has achieved significant results for clients. He is a well recognised and authoritative arbitrator, negotiator and mediator. In 1998, he was president of the Law Society of Ireland. He is currently a board member of the Irish Sports Council and was, until 2014, the vice-chairman of the Press Council of Ireland. Patrick serves on a number of philanthropic, sporting and commercial bodies. He is the Coroner for Mayo East since 1989.

Samantha Geraghty

Samantha gives advice in many areas of Commercial Law, including banking, property and agreements. She also regularly attends the District Court and has a particular expertise in Road Traffic Law. She is a Legal Representative with the Mental Health Commission, a Notary Public and a fluent Irish speaker. She joined the firm as a trainee in 2000 and progressed through the firm until she became a partner in 2008.

William was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2010. He obtained a Diploma in Arbitration from the Smurfit Business School in UCD.
He completed an internship in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and has worked in the Australian legal system. He practices in the areas of Litigation, Capacity and Administration of Estates. William completed a Diploma in In House Practice in 2014 and acts for both private and commercial clients.

Siobhán Durkan
Partner, Solicitor
Siobhán Durkan qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 and joined the firm in January 2017 as an associate solicitor. Siobhán has extensive experience in Commercial and Residential Property, Banking Law and Security. Having trained in Dublin firm, Hamilton Turner Solicitors, Siobhán took up a position as an assistant Solicitor in the Commercial Property Department in Eversheds advising some of the most active developers in the Irish property market on residential and commercial property developments. Prior to joining P. O’Connor & Son, Siobhán worked in house as a Legal Advisor in Bank of Ireland where she advised the Bank on all aspects of Banking Law and Security.
